19 April 2:00 PM Annual General Meeting  (NO DVD PRESENTATION)

The Annual General Meeting of the Wagner Society of NSW will be followed by a wonderful Concert of Wagner and Strauss

Dramatic Soprano: Mylinda Joyce
Dramatic Mezzo: Tania Ferris
Baritone: Robert Beasley
Accompanist: Chris Cartner

Mylinda Joyce is being supported by the Wagner Society in Vienna for Wagner and Strauss coaching Tania Ferris has performed for the Melbourne Wagner Society and was the actress in Strauss’Capriccio for Opera Australia  Robert Beasley was in the chorus for Faust and is about to be in Aida for Opera Australia Chris Cartner has been a repetiteur for Opera Australia, is currently with Sydney Philharmonia and runs the Resonance series

The recital will be followed by afternoon tea

All welcome: $20 members and $25 guests

WAGNER AND FILM

From the Sublime to the Ridiculous:
The Long, Strange Ride of Wagner’s Valkyries.

Dr James Wierzbicki, a musicologist from the United States where he taught Film and music at the University of Michigan and the University of California-Irvine, as well as being for more than twenty years chief classical music critic for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and other large American newspapers. He is the author of a number of books on film and music. Since 2010 he has lectured for the University of Sydney.
